Ahab moves to his stool.  A tortoise-shell saddle on three narwhal tusks.  He sits.  Puffs his white clay longstem greyblue smoke curls toward shore.  “Arrrrr....”  Ahab winks. 

Quick his tattooed hand dives into gunnysack, pulls forth a silver banjo! 

Crew gathering close for a coming turn.  Old captain taps the tip of his ivory peg for rhythym upon deck - - - begins to strum slow circles in the air.  Around and around his tattoo goes.  Then his fingers brush the banjo.  Four stainless steel silver strings rain clear clean sparkle sounds across the sea.
